Swifty, looking at the pictures I see that you have an extra wide flap at one point on the edging leather (does that make sense?) what does this 'line up' to when you wear it?
- I have the maille but havent gotten around to doing the buckles etc

Hi Brendan

That's the piece of calf-leather which I mentioned as giving some support in terms of form and comfort for the wearer. When the standard is worn that 'extra wide flap' of leather is positioned at the wearer's throat. It is not necessary for the leather to go the full diameter of the standard as the remaining edging leather and the buckles at the back support the rear. You could however probably taper it more evenly if you so wished.

Hope that answers the question.

Hey all,
Thanks for the responses. I'm sorry that I haven't been able to reply - work has prevented me from doing so. I have to give especial thanks to Frodo and Swifty - now I'll have to get in and actually make the blasted thing!!
