I know piebald horses were actually used as cavalry horses in Ancient Greece, but that the Romans did not like them because they were too visible in the dark. I have also seen them mentioned in Anglo-Saxon writings. I've read that William Marshall favoured 'pied' horses and that, in his time, they were used in tournaments. But I can't find anyting regarding piebald horses in th period 1400-1500. Later on, around 1600, Vicomte de Turenne is said to have ridden a piebald horse. Is there anyone who can fill this gap for me?
