Early Medieval Group participation

I too am a complete newbie to reenacting/living history and hav found the most daunting aspect to be the research! I am finding it very hard to find definitive answers to questions such as what the Irish armed themselves with in the early 13th cen. Though interesting, it is also quite annoying when all i want to do is get some kit together!

I am not sure hw on topic this reply is, sorry if it's to far off the mark.
