hey there.

just a quick question. what culture are you aiming for? By this I mean do you want to portray an Irish warrior from this time, a British warrior? A continental Gaulish warrior?
Might I be right in assuming you are going for a warrior of a "celtic" persuasion?
this is just to clarify things to help you along.

the kit in the above pict is similar to what i had in mind for tunic length and sleeves length .
my padded leather tunic is a little shorter than one in photo but i hope it will work .

hello few more questions.
were darts/ javelins in use at this time?
how tall was the average spear?

and when attaching grip to shield should it run top to bottom or side to side?

In relation to javelins/darts....it is possible to assume so. javelins anyhoo are merely spears that are thrown.

the average spear length is unknown as finds are few and far between.

Barry Raftery in his Guide to Iron age Antiquities writes that one complete spear shaft had been found that measured to c2 metres. but this does not exist anymore apparently.
a few small fragments have been found also, but these are tiny fragments.

. Actually, I like the example in the picture. Husband uses it to fight by day and the wife can turn it backwards and use as an ironing board in the evenings :twisted:
